A catalogue of luxury beauty products with a cheaper product placed next to each one, and a written reason for the pairing. 47 pairs so far.

How a dupe gets picked

A product is listed as a dupe when it matches the original on at least two of three things: format (a cream in a jar, not a lotion in a pump), finish or effect (the same glow, the same hold), and key ingredients at a comparable strength. Shade range, scent, packaging and wear time usually differ, and every comparison says where. If the only thing two products share is a price gap, they are not a pair and we leave them out.

Where the prices come from

Prices are the brand's own retail price, collected by hand, and they are used to work out cost per fluid ounce so two different sizes can be compared honestly. They are not Amazon prices and they go stale. What you pay is whatever Amazon shows at checkout.

How we make money

Amazon pays us a commission when you buy after following one of our links. Brands cannot pay to be listed, to be called a dupe, or to rank higher, and commission rates are not a factor in any pairing. The full terms are on the affiliate disclosure page.
