The luxury original: Matrix Food For Soft Hydrating Shampoo, $48

What matches: The same formula in another bottle, as far as the labels show: the first seventeen ingredients match in order, from sodium laureth and lauryl sulfate through cocamide MEA, dimethicone, carbomer and salicylic acid, and both list sodium hyaluronate and amodimethicone.

What it does worse: Matrix adds avocado oil and a little menthol, which L'Oréal leaves out.
